Magic City to have Formal Opening

Magic City Motor Corp. will formally open its new plant on Williamson Road, just South of Orange Avenue Monday morning at 11 AM.  Harry G. Johnson, president will make a brief talk welcoming the visitors and Mayor Murray A. Stoller will cut the ribbon.

City officials and other civic leaders have been issued invitations to the affair after which the general public will be taken on tours of inspection of the modern building designed as an automotive complex.  Ford officials are also expected for the event, including H. D. Richardson head of the Ford Richmond division, under which the local dealership operates.

Magic City is the Ford Dealer in Roanoke City for Ford trucks and autos and is the Virginia distributor for industrial engines and power units.

After the exercises tomorrow the plant will be open for public tours from 8 AM to 9 PM each day through Friday July 13.  Tuesday night a program will be broadcast over WDBJ radio from the new car showroom from 7 PM to 10 PM.

The company has been operating in the new building since June 1 after moving from the original quarters at Salem Avenue and Fourth Street.  The formal opening was delayed to complete some paving and do some housekeeping that usually accompanies the taking over new quarters……..
